Projectmanager Open Access

My client OAPEN Foundation promotes and supports the transition to open access for academic books by providing open infrastructure services to stakeholders in scholarly communication. OAPEN operates three platforms:

  1. OAPEN Library – a central repository for hosting and disseminating peer reviewed open access (OA) books
  2. OAPEN Open Access Books Toolkit – a toolkit on OA book publishing for authors, and
  3. Directory of Open Access Books – a discovery service indexing peer reviewed OA books, in partnership with OpenEdition.

OAPEN is governed by a Board of Directors and managed by a team of five people. More information about OAPEN can be found here.

OAPEN Foundation is looking for a PROJECT MANAGER. The project manager will be involved in the project activities of the foundation. Furthermore, the project manager will perform tasks related to the financial administration of the foundation and the technical operation of its services.

The PROJECT MANAGER OPEN ACCESS:

  • Manage the production process of publications from acceptance into production through to online publication.
  • Performs quality checks on manuscripts prior to publication.
  • Work with vendors to manage their performance.
  • Proactively communicate with different stakeholders in and outside the organisation.
  • Participates in new projects to be started.

The CANDIDATE:

  • Has a bachelor degree in Library and Information Science or in Publishing.
  • Has a flexible and service-oriented attitude.
  • Has project management skills.
  • Affiliation with financial and IT management.
  • Good command of English and Dutch.

The EMPLOYER offers:

  • A position for a full-time position (40-hour workweek, possibility of 32) fixed term: 3 years.
  • Monthly salary in the range of € 2,700 – € 3,750 – depending on the qualifications – plus a mobility allowance.
  • The holiday entitlement consists of 30 days based on a 40-hour working week.
  • Hybrid work: the primary place of employment is the office in The Hague; working from home is also possible.
  • The (collective) pension scheme applies. The employee’s contribution is 4% of the pension base.
