Information Assistant

The client is a world leading lawfirm. Knowledge and information are some of the key assets and, as such, need to be developed and exploited in order to generate further value for the firm. The Knowledge and Learning team is key in ensuring that this value is realised through the effective collection, collation and exploitation of both internal knowledge and external hard-copy and electronic sources.

With this in mind we are looking for a full-time (40 hours) Information Assistant to provide support to the Information Officer in the Amsterdam office. The team consists of two individuals, supporting around 50 fee earners.

The INFORMATION ASSISTANT:
  • There are three key areas of the role: administrative services, user services and technical services. The role will be focussed on administrative services, which involves dealing with the post, ordering journals and books, invoicing, managing the e-mail library mail box and cataloguing the new entries into the library. This will be about 50% of the time.
  • In addition: will be involved in user services, researching publications and library materials (electronic and paper) in order to answer legal, precedent and commercial enquiries.
  • On the technical side the information assistant will advise fee earners and support staff on using information systems, and will contact inductions with new joiners on the Knowledge and Learning resources available to them.
The CANDIDATE is:
  • A proactive self-starter with a Library or Knowledge Management Qualification (minimum HBO level).
  • Has two to four years’ experience in a similar environment.
  • Fluency in English and Dutch are a must, as are excellent writing skills in both languages.
  • Flexible and organised, accurate, enthusiastic and able to communicate confidently with different levels of staff.
  • Knowledge of and experience in using software such as MS Office and Library Management Systems are essential; experience of the Unicorn system would be an asset.
